About Dee Dee's
Dee Dee’s Ice Cream began in 2004 as a family-run business scooping delicious, homemade ice cream out in Peggy’s Cove. In 2010, Dee Dee’s found a year-round home at 5668 Nora Bernard Street in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and has been a community staple since. We not only serve ice cream, but HUGE burritos, chilis, soups and baked goods. Visit us for nourishing foods during the cooler months to warm up from the inside out!
Outwardly, Dee Dee’s focuses on serving delicious and enjoyable food while engaging with actions that contribute to a healthy, inclusive world for everyone. We use our purchasing power to support local farmers, other small businesses and community action groups while maintaining a fair and fun workplace for our team.
In June 2022, the ice cream baton was passed on from Founder, Ditta Kasdan, to two local business owners, Jenna Mooers (CHKN CHOP, EDNA) and Lindsay MacPhee (The Floatation Centre). We are grateful for the warm welcome from the Dee Dee’s team who took the time (and patience!) to train us and to Ditta for being an icon and role model for what community means. We look forward to continuing to serve you the mouthwatering treats you know and love.
